    Description:

Weingut Josef Leitz is located in Rüdesheim, at the western end of the Rheingau. This family estate is run by Johannes Leitz, who took over what was then a 2.6 hectare property in 1985, aged just 21, and grew it to 43 hectares. It was the Rheingau that “established Germany’s reputation for world class white wines” and Eins Zwei Dry is a wonderful modern ambassador for the region.
Eins Zwei Dry is the riesling that provides an entry into the Leitz world of wine. This wine is a cross-section of various Rheingau loess and clay soils with an appealing dry character. The wine is characterized by effusive aromatics and mineral structure, though supple with fruit and cool lees enrichment.

    Rated 90/100 by James Suckling.

    Region Description

    Rheingau

Rheingau is one of the smallest, and yet one of the most important, of Germany's 13 designated wine regions. A 20-minute drive west of Frankfurt, it is located (as the name implies) on the Rhine river. The classic Rheingau wine is a dry Riesling with pronounced acidity and aromas of citrus fruits and smoke-tinged minerality – typically more "masculine" than its equivalent from the Mosel. It is worth noting, however, that the region also produces some of Germany's very finest sweet, botrytized Rieslings, with flavors as exotic as apricot purée, honey and caramelized mandarin.
