    Description

This is an alternative style of Sauvignon Blanc. Harvested from the best vineyards, naturally fermented, then aged in oak barrels for 5 months. Intense aromas of cooked citrus & stone fruit, with a hint of mineral smokiness. Incredibly complex, with a rich & textural palate. Undoubtedly one of the most delicious wines we’ve tasted in a long time.

Rated 95/100 by The Real Review, 94/100 by James Suckling, 93/100 by Bob Campbell (MW), 92/100 by Wine Spectator.

    About Greywacke

Greywacke is the new Marlborough label of Kevin Judd, and the fulfilment of a long held dream. The name Greywacke was adopted by Kevin and Kimberley for their first Marlborough vineyard located in Rapaura, named in recognition of the high prevalence of round greywacke river stones in the soils of the vineyard. Kevin registered the name back in 1993 with the vague notion that he might one day want to use it on a wine label of his own.

    Variety Description

    Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the Bordeaux region of France. Sauvignon Blanc is widely cultivated in France, Chile, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Washington and California. Some New World Sauvignon Blancs, particularly from California, may also be called "Fume Blanc". Depending on the climate, the flavor can range from aggressively grassy to sweetly tropical. In cooler climates, the grape has a tendency to produce wines with noticeable acidity and "green flavors" of grass, green bell peppers and nettles with some tropical fruit (such as passion fruit) and floral (such as elderflower) notes. In warmer climates, it can develop more tropical fruit notes but risk losing a lot of aromatics from over-ripeness, leaving only slight grapefruit and tree fruit (such as peach) notes

    Country Description

    New Zealand

New Zealand wine is largely produced in ten major wine growing regions spanning from north to south Northland, Auckland, Waikato/Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury/Waipara and Central Otago. New Zealand red wines are typically made from a blend of varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and much less often Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec), or Pinot noir. In white wines Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc predominate in plantings and production. New Zealand is home to what many wine critics consider the world’s best Sauvignon blanc
