    Description

Located in Moorabool, Victoria, Austins & Co's vines are now over 20 years old and produce exemplary fruit for their range of wines. Winemaker John Durham's philosophy is to respect the Moorabool terroir.
From the outstanding 2013 vintage, the Spencer Shiraz is an elegant cool climate wine, rich with fruit cake aromas and enhanced with an array of spices. It has a plush and velvety palate, with lingering dark plum and blueberry flavors and just enough savoury, fine-grain tannins.
Silver medal winner and rated 94/100 by James Halliday.

    Variety Description

    Shiraz

Syrah (also known as Shiraz) is a dark-skinned grape variety grown throughout the world and used primarily to produce red wine. The style and flavor profile of wines made from Syrah is influenced by the climate where the grapes are grown with moderate climates (such as the northern Rhone Valley) tending to produce medium to full-bodied wines with medium to high levels of tannins and flavors of blackberry, mint and black pepper notes. In hot climates (such as the Barossa Valley of Australia), Syrah is more consistently full-bodied with softer tannin, jammier fruit and spice notes of liquorice, anise and earthy leather. In many regions the acidity and tannin levels of Syrah allows to have favorable aging potential

    Country Description

    Australia

Wine is produced in every state, with more than 60 designated wine regions however Australia's wine regions are mainly in the southern, cooler parts of the country, with vineyards located in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania and Queensland. The major grape varieties are predominantly Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Semillon, Pinot noir, Riesling, and Sauvignon blanc. Some of the more famous wine areas include Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, Clare Valley, Hunter Valley and Margret River.

    Region Description

    Victoria

Victoria is located in south east Australia. With over 600 wineries, Victoria has more wine producers than any other Australian wine-producing state but ranks third in overall wine production due to the lack of a mass bulk wine-producing area like South Australia's Riverland and New South Wales's Riverina. Winemaking is spread out across the state and features premier wine regions such as Heathcote, Rutherglen and the Yarra Valley. Single varietal wines produced in the region include the Australian mainstays of Shiraz and Chardonnay as well as the more obscure Viognier, Pinot noir, Graciano and Tannat. The style of wine ranges from full body red wine to Madeira-like fortified wines such as Liqueur Muscat.
