    1 x 2019 Austins & Co 6Ft6 Pinot Noir | Victoria, Australia

Geelong in Victoria is the home to some of Australia's best Pinot Noirs, and this wine from Austin&Co. is one of the best value examples we have found! Earthy, exotic and perfumed, with dark cherry and clove-spiced raspberry jam notes. The palate shows bright red berry fruits mixed with smokey, savoury nuances. A little dry tannin grip to clean up the finish.
Gold Medal Winner, rated 91/100 by James Halliday.

Winemaker Peter Jackson believes his role as winemaker is to grow the best grapes, then simply steer the fruit in the right direction in order to best express the vibrant fruit flavours that Marlborough. Has a restrained yet powerful aromatic mix of varietal herbal notes complemented with tropical fruits, citrus and stonefruits and a precise stoney minerality. The palate is elegantly proportioned with a lovely refreshing finish and lingering acidity.

1 x 2019 Pike & Joyce "Rapide" Pinot Noir | Adelaide Hills, Australia

Pike & Joyce is a partnership between two legendary South Australian wine families: Neil Pike is one of Australia’s leading winemakers, and the Joyce family are 5th generation wine growers. This Pinot Noir punches well above it’s weight! Very attractive bright red and dark fruits with little interference from oak and a hint of mushroom and earth. Although typically elegant, the palate has nice concentration of bright strawberry/cherry fruit displaying a sappy freshness, fine tannins and subtle oak.
Rated 93/100 from The Real Review.

    Variety Description

    Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir grapes are grown around the world, mostly in the cooler regions, but the grape is chiefly associated with the Burgundy region of France. When young, wines made from Pinot noir tend to have red fruit aromas of cherries, raspberries and strawberries. As the wines age, Pinots have the potential to develop vegetal and "barnyard" aromas that can contribute to the complexity of the wine.

    Country Description

    Australia

Wine is produced in every state, with more than 60 designated wine regions however Australia's wine regions are mainly in the southern, cooler parts of the country, with vineyards located in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania and Queensland. The major grape varieties are predominantly Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Semillon, Pinot noir, Riesling, and Sauvignon blanc. Some of the more famous wine areas include Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, Clare Valley, Hunter Valley and Margret River.

    Region Description

    Victoria

Victoria is located in south east Australia. With over 600 wineries, Victoria has more wine producers than any other Australian wine-producing state but ranks third in overall wine production due to the lack of a mass bulk wine-producing area like South Australia's Riverland and New South Wales's Riverina. Winemaking is spread out across the state and features premier wine regions such as Heathcote, Rutherglen and the Yarra Valley. Single varietal wines produced in the region include the Australian mainstays of Shiraz and Chardonnay as well as the more obscure Viognier, Pinot noir, Graciano and Tannat. The style of wine ranges from full body red wine to Madeira-like fortified wines such as Liqueur Muscat.

    Tasmania

Tasmania is the 'Island State' of the 'Island Continent', and the most southerly state of Australia. Tasmania's location means that it is often overlooked and forgotten, and this is no less true when it comes to wine. The wine world is only just beginning to recognize the diversity of terroir on the island and although Tasmania has its own zonal GI (Geographical Indication), none of its regions has been recognized. Tasmania has a moderate maritime climate, cooled by prevailing westerly winds off the Southern Ocean, providing conditions free of extremes in temperature. The most popular grown grapes are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling.

    South Australia

The South Australian wine industry is responsible for more than half the production of all Australian wine. South Australia has a vast diversity in geography and climate which allows the state to be able to produce a range of grape varieties-from the cool climate Riesling variety in the Clare Valley to the big, full bodied Shiraz wines of the Barossa Valley. Some of Australia's best-known wines like Penfolds Grange, Jacob's Creek, Yalumba and Henschke Hill of Grace are produced here, as well as many of Australia's mass-produced box wines.
